Up Against Extinction

For my senior thesis project at UNC Charlotte, we were asked to pick a North Carolina community that is currently facing a problem and develop a solution through design. The community I chose included the many endangered animals that share our North Carolina habitats, some living exclusively within our state. My design solution for this project included a poster series, a motion graphic video, and stickers designed to be a long lasting awareness tool for viewers to take after viewing the project in a gallery setting.
The early stages of this project included a research process, where I was able to learn about many North Carolina species. I was able to interview many members from animal conservation organizations including The Red Wolf Coalition and Conservation Corridor. I also interviewed biologists from
The North Carolina Zoo and the NCWRC, allowing me to narrow down the animals I would feature throughout the project.
Overall this project provided viewers with awareness of the species that share our habitats, and provided information on how they can participate in preserving North Carolina species who are at risk.
